On 5 May 2010, 44 years to the day of our arrival in South Africa, Stu was killed in a car accident on the way to Bible Study. I was severely injured and spent three weeks hospitalized and then spent the next three to four months recuperating at my daughter Cathie’s home in Johannesburg. I have now recovered and have returned to the home and ministry in the Limpopo Province of South Africa.
The ministry continues without the counseling and preaching aspects, but with the massive impact of legacy. For the last three years Stu’s focus has been to concentrate on succession in terms of the writing and seminar materials. These were entrusted to Safari Insight Mission (now Insight Resources International, Inc.), (Al and Vel Corson in coordination with me and my daughters Cathie Aub and Connie Wicks) who republished three of his books last year and plan to publish three more in the near future.
Cathie completed the preparation of the book “Warlord” and it is now available at the print shop in Torrington, Wyoming or on the website of safariinsightmission.org.
Further, the Insight Seminars have now been translated into Portuguese and the concepts propounded are being used in Mozambique and further afield.

Stu also, in the last few years, insisted that the local ministries of children’s work, youth work and welfare be carried in the main by me as he felt it was likely that he would be the first to pass and wanted to ensure that this portion of the ministry could continue in that event.
The wide distribution of food and clothing in the Johannesburg area continues through Billy and Connie Wicks under the name of Aletheia International Ministries. They are also responsible for accounting and administration of Aletheia in Johannesburg.
While Mission to South Africa can be described as a collection of ministries, I have had to look at my own portion of the ministry in the light of Stu’s passing and I have found the need to reinvent myself and re-state the focus of the local ministry in the Leseding / Vaalwater area of South Africa and how I can make greater gains for the sake of the Gospel.
In a nutshell, my vision (locally) is to see a strong church in Leseding, a committed youth leadership, and children that love the Lord.
I plan to work towards this aim by concentrating on the youth leadership. This is for two reasons: i) the youth are the future leaders of the church in Leseding and ii) they are the helpers and role models to the ±1000 children that are fed at the Lethabo Kid’s Club every Wednesday where I continue my involvement.
Grace Place has been developed as a place of spiritual restoration. Even now we continue and are trying to complete the upgrading of the facilities as a retreat for missionaries and others who need a quiet, restful place for spiritual restoration. In the light of the physical buildings on the property and my own gifts of hospitality and nurturing, I regularly host groups of the youth leaders from Leseding township (the young men and young women at separate times), on weekends for physical sustenance (they are extremely poorly fed) and to have the opportunity to teach them the Gospel in a clean, caring and comfortable environment. I believe this is a way I can demonstrate Godly love and responsibility to them while uplifting them.
The final resting place for Stuart Cook.
