Mission to South Africa
Greetings from Marilyn and Connie in the US!
The day we had been planning for finally arrived and Connie, my eldest daughter, and I departed from Johannesburg 4 August – direct to Washington D C. The first visit was to my brother, Bruce, and his wife Karel. Needless to say it was a sweet reunion with them and their kids – and also with good friend Connie Connolly who drove from North Carolina to see us! Well, I won’t continue with a travelogue, but it has been just that wonderful all the way and we have had wonderful reunions in the churches and homes where we’ve been ! Connie has had a good presentation of the ministry in Johannesburg with Aletheia (she made me cry) and I’ve presented the Lord’s work in Leseding, Limpopo. Meanwhile, back in South Africa, Lance and Jo Teal and Godfrey Lebese and the other youth have kept things going with Kid’s Club and the Bible Studies and Kyle Carlisle and Morne’, my grandson, have been very busy with a building project in Soweto, Johannesburg. My daughters, Cathie and Kathleen are also taking good care of our affairs – many thanks to them! We’re so thankful to the Lord for providing such committed and willing workers. We have until the 15 September for Connie and the 23 September for me in the US. We have been so blessed and are really enjoying this time. We appreciate all the prayers for us in our travels and for our co-workers back in South Africa. And for those who have hosted us along the way, it has been amazing! Thank you for your loving care. Lots of love from Marilyn and Connie Lots of love from Marilyn and Connie 2 September 2015

“The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”

Psalm 121:8

Marilyn continues in the ministry in which she became involved in 2001 – that of sharing the gospel and a substantial meal with around 500 children in Leseding, the township near her of about 70,000 with approximately 70 per cent unemployment. This began as a ‘soup kitchen’ in which we actually served soup. But when summer came and it was too hot for soup, the menu was changed to peanut butter and jam sandwiches and fresh milk. Lethabo Kid’s Club is where the children know they will hear God’s message, sing praises, and have a substantial meal. You should see them running to get there!

The youth are a special part of her weekly ministry. God is at work in their lives, and many are developing into leaders in His work.

Hospitality has always been a major part of Cook’s ministry and Marilyn continues to host the youth, visiting missionaries, others who have come to help her and work in the ministry. For this, Grace Place, her home is ideal in providing a quiet place to draw near to the Lord and experience His beautiful creation.
